Fruit & Nut Salad

I love all of the gorgeous fruits that are in season, and I prefer to eat them fresh.

I first had this dish at a local restaurant called Aladdin's Natural Eatery, and I've made it at home many times. Yogurt, honey, and walnuts complement the fruit.

The recipe: fill a bowl with seasonal fruit (in this case I used peaches, melon, grapes, blueberries, plums and bananas). Top it with a dollop of yogurt (I like vanilla), a drizzle of honey, and a handful of walnuts.

Yum.

I love Aladdins. I go there everytime I come to Fairport. I'll be there in early Nov and I say we meet there for lunch. I always get their hummus no matter what and then I love their vanilla raspberry layer cake.
Your salad looks deelish.

I love the twist on the regular fresh fruit. It makes me want to head out to the farmers market. I'm passing the yummy award along so check my site...

I love this dish at Aladdin's (and at home!). With all the local fresh fruits available right now, I'd love to encourage people to support local farmers by focusing on locally grown fruit such as peaches, blueberries, apricots, plums...definite yum!

Hi Tracy,
This looks so colorful and appealing. Wishing I had a nice bowl right now! Have a great week! When does Top Chef start again. I miss watching it!

Prudy/Erin, You're on! Let me know when you're in town in November. Would love to meet you at Aladdins.

Allie, shall check the blog, but thanks in advance.

Julie, I agree about the farmers markets (and Aladdins). The melon and peaches were local -- in fact, I ONLY buy melons and peaches when they are in season and I can get them locally grown.

Jenny, thanks! I miss Top Chef, but now I'm on to Project Runway. I'm not into fashion at all but I am in awe of the talent and creativity of the contestants (not to mention the strong personalities).

I can't believe how cheap fruit is right now! I don't know what to do with it all.

It seems like grapes? are now the fruit that's really in season? Grapes are really good in a salad.

Ooh ooh! Are we talking about Project Runway? Last night, there were some serously ugly outfits going down the runway.
Don't you love Michael Kors? He kept on talking about cocktail drinking as an olympic sport.

Emiline, around here I'm seeing more peaches & plums than grapes ... but I I'm no expert. I don't get to farmers markets next because I belong to a CSA that keeps me knee-deep in veggies ... but I wish it included fruits too!

And I could do some mad blogging about Project Runway but I'll resist. I like Terri best -- the mop top ... the evening look with the flowy top and wide pants ... the Olympic outfit with the ruffled blouse and pinstripe jacket. Great stuff. Plus, she just seems cool. But Stella appeals to my rocker side -- I cracked up at her leathah Olympic gear, but kinda liked it. And I agree, Michael Kors is very funny.

Grapes usually come into season in September...I'm seeing peaches, plums, blueberries, and apricots at my farmers' market. No melon, yet, though so I'm jealous that you got some, Tracy!

Julie, I spotted the melons at Gentle's in Penfield. Good, though not quite as sweet as some locally grown melons I've had in the past. And I edited the post to add that the salad had plums -- those were local too.
